Spookybrook Witch Academy Complete Series

The next series I am excited to tell you about is Spookybrook Witch Academy. This was the second book series I ever wrote, and it was published back in 2019-2020. Recently, I revamped all the books in the series and re-released them.

They have:

  • Loads of new content added
  • More editing
  • Expanded scenes

So, let’s take a look at what the series is all about. And if it sounds up your alley, you can get it here. It’s also in Kindle Unlimited.

The Spookybrook Witch Academy series is the perfect binge-worthy read if you enjoy magical schools, secret abilities, and slow-burning mysteries that take place across several books.

With darker turns, emotional development, and a developing mystery that raises the stakes with each novel, this five-volume upper YA paranormal academy series combines traditional witch-school themes.

What the Series Is About

Spookybrook Witch Academy centers on Vivian, a young woman thrust into a world she had no idea existed.

Her mom died when she was young, her dad is always traveling and doesn’t have time for her, and she seems to be always getting herself into trouble.

In an instant, she is being left off at a mysterious boarding school.

What comes next? It turns out to be a full-fledged witch academy.

No preparation. No warning. Just straight into:

  • Spellcasting
  • Potions
  • Mindreading
  • Magical creatures
  • And a placement test that doesn’t go the way it should

Something about Vivian has been strange from the start. Before anyone can figure out why, things at the academy start to go awry since her magical skills don’t fit neatly into the system. The school is being attacked. Weird things are happening.

Vivian, for some reason, is in the center of everything.

Year One: Beginnings → Year Two: A Dark Threat → Year Three: Discoveries → Year Four: Roots → Year Five: Destiny – the story expands into something much bigger than just a magical school experience. It becomes a journey about identity, power, and uncovering truths that were never meant to be found.

Why You Should Read It

1. It’s More Than Just a “Magic School” Story

Classes, magic types, rivalries, and friendships are all available to you, but this series goes beyond the obvious.

From the start, there has been an underlying mystery that continues to develop. In order to reward readers who persevere, each book builds upon the previous one by increasing the stakes and stacking secrets.

You have to read to the very end to put all the pieces of the puzzles together.

2. The Magic System Actually Feels Interesting

The academy divides magic into eight distinct types:

  • Illusionary
  • Incantation
  • Alchemy
  • Physics
  • Elemental
  • Telekinesis
  • Healing
  • Nature

This actively shapes the environment, the characters, and the conflicts; it is more than just background information. Additionally, Vivian’s inability to neatly fit into a single category is a clear indication that something more significant is happening.

3. A Main Character You Grow With

Vivian is a character anyone who was once a troubled teen can relate to. She’s had a hard time in life, and she’s struggling to adjust. But all she really needs is some purpose and direction, and people who care about her that she can believe in.

Her character is dynamic. She grows, along with the people around her.

Over five books, you watch her:

  • Learn control
  • Build relationships
  • Question what she’s been told
  • Step into power she never expected

It’s a full arc – not just a “chosen one” dropped into a story, but someone who has to earn every step forward.

4. Found Family + Unlikely Alliances

The relationships are a strong point within the books – high school level drama, teen romance, rivals and besties… it has it all.

Vivian doesn’t just happen to make the ideal friends. The alliances are complicated, earned, and occasionally unanticipated. As characters develop into one another, the emotional moments get more intense.

She’s caught in a love triangle, suspicious of a classmate who later becomes a great friend, and even grows relationships with her blood family in unexpected ways.

5. The Stakes Keep Getting Higher

The first book begins with mystery and peril, but as you progress through the subsequent books, the scope grows. The plot begins to feel larger than the institution itself as the dangers get more sinister and the repercussions more dire.

It evolves from:

“What is happening at this school?”
to
“What is Vivian actually capable of – and what does it mean for everyone?”

Who This Series Is Perfect For

You’ll probably love Spookybrook Witch Academy if you enjoy:

  • Paranormal academy settings
  • Witchcraft and structured magic systems
  • Strong character growth over multiple books
  • Found family dynamics
  • Slow-building mysteries with payoff

If you liked series with magical schools but wanted something with a slightly darker edge and more long-term development, this fits that gap. I hope if you read it, you enjoy it!

*Note: This series is upper YA and has no spice. This is my only series with a no-heat/low-heat level.
